Equity Officer
ABOUT US
GSFC are an amateur football team, founded in 2020 with the goal of helping to combat food poverty and isolation within the local community of Dennistoun, Glasgow. The club provides opportunities for people to play football in the true spirit of the game; regardless of ability or circumstance, as well as carrying out community initiatives focused around its main charitable objectives.
GSFC volunteer applications are open to everyone over the age of 16 and you are encouraged to apply even if you lack the desired relevant experience. Passion and an eagerness to learn are just as relevant in our book.
All positions at GSFC are offered on a voluntary basis.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
The position of Equity Officer at GSFC incorporates equality, diversity and inclusion and the successful candidate will be required to evidence a commitment to promoting these values. They will need to have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain trusting relationships with individuals and organisations alike.
In order to be successful, the Equity Officer will need to be able to evidence compassion, empathy and sensitivity and must possess highly effective conflict-resolution skills.
The candidate will be expected to facilitate an environment where difference is embraced and individuals can flourish.
YOUR ROLE
- Implement and review club policy at board and service level. Provide reports and recommendations on findings of such reviews.
- Research, apply, promote and raise awareness of diversity initiatives.
- Share best practice, as well as provide advice, guidance and support on equality objectives to all within the different facets of the club.
- Translate equality legislation into practice in order to ensure GSFC meets its statutory requirements as set out in The Equality Act 2010.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of anti-discriminatory legislation.
- Assess community needs and promote community cohesion.
- Develop and maintain use of systems for reporting any incidents of discrimination.
- Respond to complaints and where required provide additional support/information on options for complainants.
- Prepare and deliver presentations and workshops to players, coaching staff, volunteers and partner organisations.
- Attend player, coaching staff and volunteer wellness sessions with the objective of ensuring emotional wellbeing in participants.
REQUIRED COMMITMENT
Approximately two-four hours per week, although there will be weeks when little is required of you and others when we will require more.
An example of a busy week would be if you were asked to prepare a presentation with points for discussion and present this in the form of an equity workshop to players, coaching staff or volunteers.

Volunteer Vacancies
As you may know, Glasgow Saints is not just a football team. Much of our focus lies within the community and we strive every single day to better help those in need. Our activities can range from food parcel deliveries to comfort calls, community clean-ups to neighbourhood kitchen events and we’re always on the look-out for volunteers to help.
On the football side of things we also have an ongoing need for volunteer coaching staff, physios, nutritionalists and wellness mentors. If you think you can spare some of your time to assist us, we would love to hear from you.

Physical Health Advisor

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
The candidate will preferably have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of applied sports science, exercise physiology or a related health and fitness discipline, together with experience in the health and fitness industry.
They will be a confident speaker with a genuine interest in the physical wellbeing of others.
The successful candidate will ideally have prior involvement in an organisation where fitness and diet are of equal importance to the overall physical health and wellbeing of participants.
They will understand the importance of prior assessment and consultation to proposed new regimes in order to account for participants with specific medical conditions/needs.
YOUR ROLE
- In conjunction and consultancy with others, you will be expected to advise on the further development of nutrition, dietetics and physical health regimes in order to better support the physical wellbeing of GSFC participants.
- You will be required to assist with risk assessment/management and the development of service policies in relation to the promotion of a well-balanced, healthy and active lifestyle, and the prevention of illness and injury.
- You will be asked to advocate for the benefits of maintaining a healthy lifestyle as well as liaise with coaching staff on the ways in which group training regimes can be tailored to account for any health inequalities amongst participants.
- Owing to robust research and education you will give guidance on exercise science disciplines that will inform coach-led decision making during the creation of out-of-hours warm-ups and workouts.
REQUIRED COMMITMENT
Approximately one-two hours per week, although there will be weeks when nothing is required of you and others when we may require more.
An example of a busy week would be if a new training plan was required to account for a participant with a particular physical impairment, which would allow for overall group continuity and prevent any feeling of disadvantage.

Fundraising Officer

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
The candidate will preferably have third sector experience, ideally with existing relationships in fund and grant giving organisations. They will need to have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write applications that stand out amongst others.
In order to be successful, the bid writer will need to be highly organised and motivated, a self-starter, with an ability to assimilate and process information quickly. They should be creative, ambitious and focused whilst working independently.
The candidate should be someone who is happy to do a certain level of business development and independent research, in order to generate concept notes and applications that match and sustain the funding needs of GSFC and its delivery aims. They will also be responsible for the stewardship of relevant partners, ensuring that reporting timelines and processes are adhered to and that funding body relationships are established and well maintained.
A willingness to work hard individually towards a collective outcome.
YOUR ROLE
- Identify, research and cultivate new trusts and grant givers using a variety of research resources, in association with the club’s development plan.
- Contribute to Glasgow Saint’s ambitious growth strategy by developing, preparing and submitting funding applications and written proposals in order to achieve targets.
- Accurately report back to donors who have supported GSFC in a timely manner by writing detailed impact reports, updating them on the success of the projects they have funded.
- Ensure that all funds applied for/received/rejected are recorded on a fully comprehensive fundraising tracker.
- Establish, build and maintain relationships with donors through e-mail, telephone and online meetings.
- Compile progress reports for monthly submission to the board, including information and feedback on rejected bids.
- Liaise with the Glasgow Saint’s Media Officer in order to ensure that any news of grants or fundraising efforts are well publicised.
REQUIRED COMMITMENT
Approximately two-four hours per week, although there will be weeks when little is required of you and others when we will require more.
An example of a busy week would be if more than one fundraising opportunity was identified and multiple bids were required to be written simultaneously.
